EPA: Radiation for veterinary oncological purposes compliance

Targeted compliance campaign for use of Radiation for Veterinary Oncological purposes in accordance with the Protection from Harmful Radiation Act 1990.

The NSW Environment Protection Authority (EPA) is undertaking a targeted compliance campaign for radiation user and management licence holders. The campaign will involve inspecting licence holders who use radiation equipment for veterinary oncological purposes.

Inspections are planned to occur between now and September 2024. The purpose of the inspections is to determine the compliance status of each licensee with the regulatory requirements contained in the Protection from Harmful Radiation Act 1990 (Act) and Protection from Harmful Radiation Regulation 2013 (Regulation). Information regarding the Act and Regulation can be found here.

What is a possible outcome of the targeted compliance campaign?

The EPA aims to encourage and promote good practices to improve environmental outcomes. This campaign is intended to enable and assist the regulated community to meet their minimum requirements for compliance with the Act, the Regulation and associated radiation management and user licences.
